THE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASISI

----- P R A Y E R - F O R - P E A C E -----

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon,
where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
where there is sadness, joy,

Oh Divine Master, grant,
that I may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that we receive,
But it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

[ Here I am Lord.. I come ..to do your Will ]

Can You Listen?

the wind is blowing,
the birds are chirping,
the smell is sweet,
and my heart is beating,
can you,
really can you help me now
your soul intertwined with mine
and carried it to a hidden paradise,
unmistakable true how the sky now turns to majestic
shades of blue,
your touch,
your touch shakes me as hard as an earthquake,
your words,
oh your words create an unbreakable force field to
shield my heart from pain,
rain, rain never falls here,
looking in your eyes is soaring through heaven for all
eternity,
how do I know this is you,
oh I see it is the way the birds sing harmoniously
when they see your face,
it is the way the stars shine brightly as if they were
the sun,
it is the way my soul longs for you so,
you are here for me,
my soul mate,
listen to my call,
Listen, Listen,
Can you hear me calling,
Can you follow it's sound?

I Love You !!

LOVE is the greatest of all emotions. The Dictionary defines it as a strong liking or interest; an ardent affection or fondness; to caress, fondle, or to take great interest in something.

We all know that nothing can be more pleasurable than to be loved. Whatever it may mean to each one of us, one thing is certain. We need it to keep alivein body and spirit.

There is great power in love. It gives strength to both the lover and the loved. It can be likened to the power of GOD. It immediately wins human goodwill, can turn enemies into friends, and can bind friendships with bonds that only death can separate.

How to say I LOVE YOU ..in

BENGALI - Aami Tomakey Bhalo Bhaashi

FRENCH - je t'aime

GUJARATI - hun tane prem karun chhun

HINDI - main tumse pyar karta hoo

PUNJABI - mein tenu pyar karda han

SPANISH- te amo / te quiero

URDU - mein tumse mohabbat karta hoon / mujhe tum se pyar heh

Exam Fever :-( !!

Examinations FEVER - yes, this is what i was suffering from last few days.

My MOCKS [House-exams] were on. Yes, Mocks are part of the Internal Assessment system that Delhi University has introduced since 2003. Mocks carry 10% weightage out of total 25% and 10% are for the Assignments / Tutorials and 5% for the Attendance ;-) [ yeah.. no more class-bunking now :-( ]

The Examination Fever spares no one: not the students who blissfully snored through months of lectures with their heads gently rested on a pile of notes, nor the ones who swaggered through the year brandishing more hair gel than textbooks... Not even the bookworms who divided the year between memorising their lectures and memorising the college library.

It's the time when you all of a sudden start feeling uneasy - all sorts of *#$#%$* arbit things start happening. Head-aches, Hunger, Boredom, Anxiety, Fear and in the extreme cases even lead to Depression and also Suicidal attempts :-( [..more common during Board Exams though !!]

Luckily.. those days are over for sometime now :-) Everything is normal (Was it ab-normal :-D during da exams ??) and its back to fun days again.

[As the maxim goes - College dayz r da best dayz of LIFE ;-) !!]

Adios.

Quarter-Life Crisis :-(

Following is an email forward found at iVillage under the section girlfriend to girlfriend emails :-)

They call it the "quarter-life crisis." It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are a lot of things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two but then get hot and scared because you barely know where you are now.

You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you do not realize is that they are realizing that too and are not really cold or catty or mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you are.

You look at your job. It is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for one and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and are scared.
You miss the comforts of college, of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren't so great after all.

You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and do not want. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging a bit more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and add things to your list of what is acceptable and what is not.

You are insecure and then secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you, or you lie in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. You love someone but maybe love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you are not a bad person. One-night stands and random hookups start to look cheap, and getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic.

You go through the same emotions and questions over and over and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You wonder what in the hell is wrong with you.

You worry about loans and money and the future and making a life for yourself and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!

What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it and we are all in this together. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out. We are making a lot of mistakes, but helping one another learn from them and reaching out to pull one another up. We are not the shiniest group of people, but we are a very much a circle. We are there for one another, and will listen and help heal and grow for the rest of our lives. We will piss one another off, but we will also heal one another's hearts. We are the group who will always call on birthdays and laugh at the end of a conversation that started with angry words. We are a group that talks trash about the same people we call to meet up with on a Friday night, but we are sorry about it and we know that they know that we were just being insecure like they have been. We are friends, and in 10 years, when we have figured out where we fit in in this world, we will still be friends always and forever!

This e-mail forward is based on
The Quarter-Life Crisis: The Unique Challenges of Life in Your Twenties by Alexandra Robbins and Abby Wilner which was published by J.P. Tarcher in May, 2001.

Of Leaders and More..

Excerpts from Mr Azim Premji's speech @ IIM Calcutta:

1. Leaders believe in values being practised day in and day out...it is for the top managers to say that their management culture holds certain values and they have to endorse and follow those values.

2. Successful leaders have immense self-confidence-.they have the ability to laugh at and criticize themselves, and admit and share their failures with their core-teams so as to initiate a learning process. They are "turnaround men" - men who actually learn from their mistakes (a man who doesn't fail at least 1/3rd of the time is probably not trying and experimenting enough.).Doing this requires a high level of self-confidence.

3. Failures are a very important aspect of leadership. Leaders can tolerate failure with equanimity and are cheerful in the face of failure. Leaders should not forget the lesson of failure.

4. Successful leaders play to win.. This is not the same as playing dirty. They have high expectations and demand more- both of themselves and others and at the same time deliver more than the industry average. Global expectations are constantly on the rise.... but your ultimate target or standard should be internal - i.e. yourself , and not external competition.

5. Work hard and work smart: Leaders should have a very high degree of initiative. You have to work, both hard as well as work smart. All managers are bright...what puts you a cut above the rest is your drive- the long hours you can put in, and the smart thinking you can do in that time. You have to make hard work a part of your lifestyle.

6. Leaders have a deep committment to excellence and quality .

7. Strategy is as important as execution. Both are terribly critical. An excellent strategy without meticulous execution is no good. Proper execution is like hammering in the nail all the time.

8. Successful leaders are always on the side of optimism while having their feet firmly fixed in reality. Optimism and enthusiasm shown by a leader acts as a Force Multiplier.

Mr. Azim Premji feels that organizations succeed because of their people. Ideal qualities to look for in an employee are: desire to succeed, high drive, modesty, company loyalty, integrity, ability to judge, capacity to anticipate the future, and a balanced ego.

Most importantly- successful leaders create and breed successful leaders under them.

Mind over Matter !!

i came across this post while surfing the net -

Did you know that when you envy someone, it's because you really like that person?

Did you know that those who appear to be very strong in heart, are real weak and most succeptible?

Did you know that those who spend their time protecting others are the ones that really need some one to protect them?

Did you know that the three most difficult things to say are: I love you, Sorry and help me. The people who say these are actually in need of them or really feel them, and are the ones you really need to treasure, because they have said them.

Did you know that people who occupy themselves by keeping others company or helping others are the ones that actually need your company and help?

Did you know that those who dress in red are more confident in themselves?
Did you know that those who dress in yellow are those that enjoy their beauty?
Did you know that those who dress in black, are those who want to be unnoticed and need your help and understanding?

Did you know that when you help someone, the help is returned in two folds?you know that those who need more of you are those that don't mention it to you?

Did you know that it's easier to say what you feel in writing than saying it to someone in the face? But did you know that it has more value when you say it to their face?

Did you know that what is most difficult for you to say or do is much more valuable than anything that is valuable that you can buy with money?

Did you know that if you ask for something in faith, your wishes are granted?

Did you know that you can make your dreams come true, like falling in love, becoming rich, staying healthy, if you ask for it by faith, and if you really knew, you'd be surprised by what you could do.

NSA J N Dixit passes away !! :-(

Rediff.com reports -

National Security Adviser J N Dixit passed away on Monday morning. He had suffered a massive heart attack and was brought dead to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi around 6.30 am.

Jyotindra Nath Dixit (68) was a career diplomat who had served as foreign secretary. He had the unique distinction of having served as high commissioner or ambassador in the capitals of all South Asian neighbours, except the Maldives, during a diplomatic career spanning nearly four decades. He was an acknowledged expert on Indo-Pak ties.

He was India's first envoy to Bangladesh after its creation in 1971.

He was the high commissioner in Colombo in 1987 when India signed an accord with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and sent the Indian Peace Keeping Force to the northern areas of the island nation at the height of the ethnic crisis.

He was the first Indian high commissioner to Afghanistan and had also served as high commissioner in Islamabad, considered an important posting and a stepping stone to becoming the foreign secretary.

He was a prolific author and columnist on international and regional affairs.

Since 2003, he had been closely associated with the Congress party's foreign affairs cell and played an active role in the drafting of the party's pre-poll paper on foreign policy, defence and national security.

When the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government came to power, he was appointed the NSA.

He was really a great multi-faceted Personality indeed. He was a simple, down-to-earth person and he even came to our college once for a seminar. He spoked on Indo-Pak relations. I admire this person very much and he 'll always remain one of my Role-Models.

Hats - Off !!

~ Maa Vaishno Devi ~

Continuing with what all happened in the period i left bloggin. A Visit to Maa Vaishno Devi's Shrine also occured. I was quite fortunate to have received the call of MATA.

The journey to the Holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is an enchanting journey of the places where Mata Vaishnavi had spent some time while observing various spiritual disciplines and penances.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is believed to grant all the four boons to those who visit Her Holy Shrine. She is considered to fulfill anything and everything that a person wishes for in life, in a righteous way. It is an experience of all, that no one goes empty handed from Her Great Pilgrimage.

The journey to the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji starts with the Call of Mata. It is not only a belief but also a strong experience of one and all that the Divine Mother sends a call to her children. And once a person receives it, wherever he is, is bound to visit the Mother to receive Her unbounded love and blessings. A popular slogan in the local folklore beautifully expresses it- Maan Aap Bulandi - which means that The Mother Herself Calls!

Jai MATA Di !!

Adios.

2004 .. well, was a topsy turvy year for me. Lots of ups and downs came and flew away. As they say - "Time and Tide waits for none".

The year started off, not-so-good for me. I got screwed in my MOCKS very badly. It led to utter disappointment. Well, some things are beyond our control.. may be i didnt worked hard enuff which caused this situation.

Bad / Tough times they say dont last longer !! I managed to overcome from that situation and resolved to work even more harder. (..yeah, easier said than done :-D) Doing so.. helped me save a year repeat in the Annuals (Thank you.. God!!)

Post-annuals, started summer break which lasted 3 loooooong hot months.. planned to do lots - things in these holidays but all go haywire. Summer sucks !!

After a looooooooong wait.. July came and so came the Results [results :-o dont dare to ask:-( !!] Well.. then started another new Academic year 2004-05. Lots of things happen in Delhi University once the academic year begins -

New academic year usually starts with the faculty-fachha orientation followed by popular ragging ritual which has been modernised these days and so we call it INTERACTION :-D
Okay.. we at HINDU dont rag, and everything happened pretty decently. Then came the DUSU Elections (ya.. DUSU stands for Delhi Univ. Students Union Elex - for the un-initiated). Lots of campaigning was done. DUSU Elex are popular coz of Glamour and Money involved and not issues. (stereotyped ..politics, eh?)

Roadshows, DJs, fresher parties, movies, audio cassettes ... freebies rained in on Delhi University students. Candidates are like ready to do anything and everything - for votes, they can treat u big time in Canteens, free tickets to Movie and ofcourse..... hostellers might even get to booze for free (shhhhhhhhh !!) They make promises about the issues.. which they themselves know - they rnt going to keep - therez some loophole in the system actually - it wud be right to say - system sucks - big time :-d!! Finally, NSUI [National Students Union of India] grabbed all major posts (yeah.. Itz Congress rule all over!!)

Oh.......my, itz pretty long a post already. It's actually a Flashback of what happened from January - August '04 - the month i stopped bloggin. Loads of things happened in the interim - 'll blog about it later.

Cheers !!
